Crash Results in DWI Charges

A 33-year-old man was recently arrested on drunk driving-related charges. The Maryland man faces the DUI charges after he was accused of driving while intoxicated when he crashed into two signs and went off the road. Authorities indicate that the man also refused to submit to a breath test.

The crash occurred in the early morning hours on a recent Tuesday. The man was traveling in the westbound direction on a major roadway when he exited onto a ramp. After exiting, he reportedly lost control of his vehicle and crashed into two signs. Afterward, his vehicle veered off the road before crashing into trees and landing on its side.

Authorities arrived at the scene to conduct an investigation, and after administering a field sobriety test, the man failed. The man was arrested and taken to Berlin Barrack where authorities attempted to administer a breath test, but he refused. He was charged with DUI and faces other traffic-related charges associated with the accident.

A person's life can be drastically affected if convicted of DUI charges. Defendants could face a significant amount of time in jail and also face other hardships. Once their time behind bars is completed, it may become challenging to become employed at most business establishments, and driver's licenses may be suspended for a certain period of time. Maryland defendants could possibly reduce their risk of being convicted, and also decrease their legal risk, by knowing and understanding their legal rights. Moreover, defendants who are charged with any crime are presumed innocent until proved guilty.
