With over 20 years of legal experience, I have the comprehensive understanding of Maryland law to vigorously protect your rights and future against any violent crime.

Maryland Robbery Penalties

Under Maryland law, robbery is defined as the felonious taking and carrying away of personal property of someone else from his or her person by the use of force, violence, or intimidation of violence. This means that you do not have to use violence, just a threat of violence to someone else and taking their property can result in robbery charges.

This violent crime is considered a felony, which carries a maximum prison sentence of 15 years. However, if the crime also included the use of a weapon – or even the threat of a weapon – then a conviction can result in a maximum prison sentence of 20 years.

A person charged with robbing a car – also known as carjacking – by force, violence, or threats of violence, while the owner of the vehicle is in possession of the vehicle, is punishable by a maximum prison sentence of 30 years.
