Drunk Driving Suspected Factor in Recent Maryland Accident

Posted By William R. Hall, ESQ || 18-Jul-2015

A recent collision occurred between two vehicles in Maryland. One person is said to have suffered critical injuries in the accident. The other driver was not reported to have suffered any injury. Thus far, no charges have been filed in this case, although drunk driving has been listed as a possible factor.

A 41-year-old man was driving a vehicle that, police say, went through a stop sign on the road. Another vehicle whose driver was attempting to make a left hand turn was apparently struck by the pickup truck that had allegedly failed to stop at the sign. Upon impact, the vehicle that was struck was sent veering down a hill where it struck an occupied, parked vehicle and came to a halt in a nearby driveway.

The man driving the vehicle that was struck became trapped in his car. Rescue workers were able to successfully extricate him from the wrecked vehicle within a half hour following the crash. He was transported to a hospital for treatment of his injuries. Police have stated that speed, alcohol and failure to stop at a stop sign are leading factors in the cause of this accident.

In Maryland, similar accidents have occurred that have resulted in drunk driving charges being filed against a motorist. In such cases, the person charged retains the right to consult with an attorney to discuss his or her case and determine what options might be available as he or she prepares to face the charges in court. An experienced criminal lawyer would be able to assess a case and guide someone through the impending legal process.
