Most people are aware that convictions for driving under the influence (DUI) can have profound effects on their lives. Maryland authorities recently arrested two people who now face DUI charges as the result of an anti-drunk driving campaign.
Authorities were conducting a special operation over a recent weekend in eastern Maryland. Multiple agencies participated in the operation, and they checked 83 vehicles at one particular checkpoint. At the checkpoint, none of the drivers stopped were pulled over for field sobriety tests, but two people ended up arrested in other parts of the county due to associated increased patrols.
Police say that one of the individuals arrested faces not only a charge for DUI, but also additional charges for assaulting an officer and resisting arrest. No further details were given of the actions of this driver. In addition, no details were released concerning the blood alcohol content of either of the drivers arrested.
