Drunk Driving Suspect Attacks Law Enforcement

A suspected drunk driver was recently arrested by Maryland law enforcement after he attacked the sheriff's deputy on the scene. The driver was spotted by the sheriff's deputy, supposedly demonstrating behaviors indicating possible drunk driving. Prior to the arrest, the driver had been operating the vehicle at a high rate of speed. The man was pulled over for drunk driving, and the officer was able to speak with the driver.

According to the report, the Maryland driver was displaying signs of possible intoxication. He was asked to submit to a series of field sobriety tests and he was arrested after he was not able to complete them satisfactorily. It is not clear which tests were administered or if his blood alcohol content (BAC) level was checked at the scene.

The driver was reportedly obstinate and uncooperative. He tried to resist arrest, would not submit to further testing at the police station and kicked the deputy as he was being placed in the back of the police car. The man also inflicted injuries upon himself and remained belligerent even after he was taken for medical treatment. He was officially charged with drunk driving, assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest and a myriad of other citations.

It may seem like there is an overwhelming amount of evidence against the man, but it should be noted that he has not yet been convicted of any crimes. In the eyes of the law, he is still considered innocent until it is proven otherwise. Despite his supposed behavior during and after his arrest for drunk driving, he still has the right to seek a defense to fight these charges.
